Ebay has reconfirmed its first place position in Italy, with Italians saving between 10 and 20% in 2006 (an average of 1,000 euros per family over the year). From data communicated by Ebay, in 2006 a bottle of wine was bought every 6.5 minutes; one of the most popular products that is acquired on the Internet. This information has caused contemplation of the enormous potentials of the web that are yet to be explored.
And this is largely the cause of a general trend in Italy to invest more in online advertising. In the first 11 months of 2006, advertising on the Internet rose by 45%, reaching 173.5 million euros.
