ECO-ENERGY: THE E.U. AUTHORIZES THE TRANSFORMATION OF 200,000 HECTOLITERS OF WINE INTO BIOETHANOL

Atypical use for 200,000 hectoliters of Italian wine for the production of bioethanol has been given the go ahead. This is the amount of the excess supply wine from Italy that the European Union has decided to reduce while ensuring, at the same time, provisions for the biofuel sector.
On August 27th, Brussels launched an acquisition competition for quantities of wine considered in excess in the Official Gazette of the European Union, regulation 27/08/2007.

The measure includes excess supplies from France as well, the largest wine producer in the world, of 239,995 liters that can be distilled for bioethanol, from Spain (200,000 hectoliters), and from Greece (53,381), for a total of 693,376 hectoliters.
Those who are interested in buying wine whose distilled alcohol is destined exclusively for use in bioethanol production, can make their offer until September 10th.
