In response to the general uproar over recent increases in the price of all grain based products, Carlo Petrini made a point in defense of the farmers who produce it: “It is time that farmers receive fair compensation, it is impossible that grain costs the same as 20 years ago. But in order for this to happen, without only an increase in prices for consumers, the cake must now be divided equally among all participants in the production chain. If this does not happen, the farmer is destined to disappear”.
