JUNE 2ND IS “WORLD WINE DAY”. 8 ITALIAN WINE WOMEN WILL BE SENT TO JAPAN AS AMBASSADORS TO “ITALIAN SPRING”: FROM PLANETA TO BOSCAINI, LUNGAROTTI, AND FRANCESCA CINELLI COLOMBINI

Francesca Planeta from the Planeta winery, Alessandra Boscaini from Masi, Francesca Cinelli Colombini from the Fattoria dei Barbi, Teresa Lungarotti from Lungarotti, Emanuela Stucchi Prinetti from Badia a Coltibuono, Beatrice Contini Bonacossi from Tenuta di Capezzana, Elda Felluga di Livio Felluga and Maria Chiara Clerici from Valfieri: these are the ambassadors who will represent the best of Italian wine on April 11th upon explicit request by Princess Takamado, interested in meeting the feminine side of Italian winemaking. The eight Italian producers will be meeting for “Onna no Wine” (Women in Wine), and are the protagonists of a long tour, from 10 -18 April, which will include six different Japanese cities.

To properly celebrate Italian wine, the eight ambassadors will make a proposal to Romano Prodi (who they will be meeting with on April 17th during the “Italian Spring” event in Japan) that June 2nd (also the Celebration of the Italian Republic) be designated as “Italian Wine in the World Day”. On this day in Japan, a crystal glass will be offered in over 600 locations to those who choose Italian wine.

“Italian Spring” is an event that has been launched by the Italian Embassy to promote Italy and its cultural, artistic, and commercial attractions in Japan. From March 19 to June 30, over 200 initiatives promoting “Made in Italy” are being held, with an emphasis on Italian food and wine, which are the most representative products in Japan, and that of the feminine influence in these sectors.
