The “Best Sommelier” award for 2007 went Swede Andreas Larsson. The decision was made by the jury at the annual international “World’s Best Sommelier” competition promoted by Moët & Chandon, and organized by ASI (Association de la Sommellerie Internazionale) since 1969.
The latest edition was held recently in Greece where 48 sommelier, coming from Europe, Asia, and the Americas competed for the coveted title. Participants were required to have the following: complete knowledge of wines and spirits of the world, be at least 35 years of age, the title of best sommelier of a specific country, and fluency in at least two languages.
Thus, Moët & Chandon has once again confirmed its attention, “that the French winemakers dedicate to recognizing the professionalism of the role of sommelier”.
