The ‘Merano Wine Festival’ returns to Merano (Kurhaus, Corso Libertà 37, Merano) this November 11 to 13. The 14th edition of the kermes is back, offering its usual philosophy of lessons in high quality through wine tastings presented directly by producers, An event that has always been recognized as one of the most important enological fairs in Italy. It was on November 4th, 1992, when three friends, united by their passion for wine, decided to give life to the first edition of the Merano International Wine Festival in the Hotel Palace of Merano. Over the years, many things have changed, including its location, but the philosophy has always remained the same.
If the Merano International Wine Festival (www.meranowinefestival.com) has become one of the most important enological appointments in Italy, it is precisely because of the willingness to offer only the best of the best. The event is held simultaneously with ‘Culinaria’, the festival dedicated to traditional flavors, and celebrating its 10th edition this year. As is now the tradition, the festival will be presented and organized in sections…
“I Cento” (The Hundred): Italian producers selected on the basis of the quality of the wines presented and a criteria of subdivision for the most important viticultural areas; “Italian Top Selected”: Italian producers who are not yet known and who, in just a few years, have significantly improved the quality of their production; “Consortiums”: viticultural consortiums under tutelage; “Dulcis in Fundo”: companies dedicated to sweet wines; “Vinis Extremis”: companies that produce wine in particular conditions (climactic, territorial, winemaking processes); “Wine Women”: associations run by women (restaurants, wine bars, sommelier, and journalists who promote the wine culture); “Spirit”: Italian national associations of the autochthonous Metodo Classico; “Winemakers of the Alto Adige”: just as the title says; “International Top Producers”: foreign winemakers from Australia, Austria, Chile, Croatia, France, Germany, New Zealand, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, Hungary, USA, in the process of being selected on the basis of the quality of their production; "Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux": a selection of 44 French winemaking companies.
