THE TOCAI FRIULANO CASE IS NOT CLOSED: THE GOVERNOR OF THE FRIULI VENEZIA REGION, RICCARDO ILLY, EXPLAINS WHY AT WINENEWS.TV

The Governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Riccardo Illy, is not giving up yet on the Tocai question. As he explained in an interview with www.winenews.tv, the case is still open for Friuli producers who have, in fact, presented recourse to the courts of the European Union, and, while waiting for the sentence (which is set for mid 2007), Tocai will change its name to “Friulano”.
According to Illy there is still hope because “the global organization of commerce foresees the use of the same name for completely different products”, like, for example, Tocai from Friuli and Tokaj from Hungary.
